The required Annual Member Meeting will be held on Sunday, 02/20/2022 at the Marriott City Center, Newport News, VA. 740 Town Center Drive, Newport News, VA 23606.
The purpose of the meeting is to allow all members to present questions, comments and suggestions to the Board of Directors.
There will be an election to add a new Board Member who will take office in November 2022. The Nomination Committee vetted and presented a nominee to the Board at the January Board of Directors Meeting. The nominee was contacted and presented a Prior Consent notice to the President. Other nominations will be accepted from the floor on February 20, 2022.
All State Officers will be installed by the Former Chair of the Board and the current President will install the District Officers. We hope all officers will be able to attend this ceremony.
In addition, the Board recently reviewed our Constitution and Bylaws. There was a procedural amendment added to the Bylaws in April 2021 (Article X, Dissolution) that further gave guidance to disburse Assets of the Association if the Association were to close for Involuntary or Voluntary reasons. At the time Operation Smile was listed as the 501 (c)(3). Other charitable organizations can be added and it became policy to review this each year.
If, after an email is sent out on or about January 12th, I hear from any member who would like to make any change, this Amendment to the Bylaws will be included as part of this Annual Member Meeting.
