Advanced Lighting Techniques

June 13, 2022 Time: TBD

with George P. Joell, III, Cr.Photog., CPP

This course will go beyond the basics of lighting. We will dive deep into lighting techniques for individuals, couples, and groups. We will start with one light and progress to a five-light setup. We will use lighting to scalp the body and target areas of the scene for a specific look and feel. We will use modifiers, grids, reflectors, and barn doors to direct the light. Although a basic understanding of the exposure triangle is required, we will discuss how to manipulate ISO, aperture, and shutter speed to create a dynamic image. We will discuss broad, short, split, loop, and butterfly lighting techniques. This class is for photographers of all skill levels with a basic understanding of Off-camera Lighting(OCL) in studio and on location.  This class will be a combination of lecture and hands on.
