Northern District Infrared Discovery Day

  • Sun, August 28, 2022
  • 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
  • 1960 Floyd Circle, McGaheysville, VA 22840

Registration is closed

Join other district members as we explore the possibilities of photographing with an infrared camera. Bring your camera, a memory card and a tripod so that you can experience IR photography during this program. It is also suggested that you bring your own infrared filter (available at Adorama or B&H for about $60-$85). If you prefer to not purchase an infrared filter, Don will have a 77 mm filter that anyone can use and will also have adapters so that you can use the 77 mm filter on a lens that uses 58, 67 or 72 mm filters. Several members will also have their converted cameras so that you can see what it is like to shoot infrared hand held rather than on a tripod (using your own memory card so you can keep the images).

We are meeting at Don Aittama's house and then driving to a location 3 miles away along the Shenandoah River.  We will start with district announcements before departing for the shooting location and while we have an end time designated, you can stay as long as you'd like at the location or surrounding area to create beautiful images on your own afterward.
