In 2021, families in the US spent $123.6 billion on their pets, which is nearly double what it was in 2011. There definitely is a market for pet photography, whether it’s adding pets to a family session or photographing them by themselves. At this program you’ll learn some of Ellen’s tips and tricks for creating pet portraits people love, including:

  • How photographing dogs differs from photographing people and how and why to photograph pets with their people
  • How to get and keep a dog’s attention
  • How to pose and light pets
  • How outdoor pet photography differs from studio pet photography

Ellen Zangla, M.Photog., CPP, APAI, specializes in outdoor pet portraits, family portraits with pets, as well as action dog photography. She’s been a professional pet photographer in Loudoun County since 2010 and earned her Master Photographer degree and her CPP designation exclusively with pet photography. In 2019, she published “Tails of Loudoun County,” with photos and stories of more than 200 pets in Loudoun County. Ellen also is a very successful fundraiser; since 2015 she’s raised more than $100,000 for animals in need. Ellen lives in Hamilton with her husband, son, and six pets: four cats and two dogs.
