Rick Martin will be leading a photo tour of the Historic Willa Cather House in Gore, Virginia. The property is listed in The Virginia Historic Landmark register but has been in private hands for many years and is in severe decay. Joining us for the tour is Linda Cather a descendant of Willa Cather and possibly other descendants. This is an opportunity to practice "abandoned property photography" of an actual property that has been truly neglected but with the permission of the property owner.  The home will eventually be restored so it won't be in this neglected state forever.

All participants must sign a liability waiver prior to October 7th. This waiver will be sent to all registered attendees a week before the event, waiving any liability of Rick Martin, VPPA, and the property owner should anyone suffer an injury while at the property.

We will enter the house in small groups while others photograph the property from outside in order to conduct this tour safely. Within two weeks, participants will send images made during this event to the Northern District Director, Gwen Meehan, to provide to the owner as a way of thanking her for this opportunity.

Finally, we will meet at a designated location at 12:30 in order to carpool to the location as parking is severely limited. This location will be emailed to you after your signed waiver has been received.
